Market Position - P1(d)

Market position.

Meaning and Purpose: Due to a business amalgamation between 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks in 2012 an extremely powerful union of businesses has meant that there has been a change in the power balance in the animation industry. This is emphasised in the final paragraph of the article discussing the challenge to Disney's animation empire.

With this new deal between Fox and Dreamworks, the animation landscape has shifted.  It’s no longer about Disney/Pixar versus a handful of studios who are attempting to depose them as rulers of the animation kingdom, but rather Disney/Pixar vs. 20th Century Fox/Dreamworks vs. everyone else fighting for scraps against the two relative titans.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few years.  But this deal was indeed a proverbial game-changer in the realm of American animation.

This screenshot shows the current DreamWorks's position in the market:

This screenshot shows that their current position is not bad because of the prise is rising by 0.74%.

DreamWorks Animation - is a huge media company with a lot of huge competitors. It is really important for them to have as much market shares as posible because it will give them more opportunities for development. This might mean that their production process will be much faster which will boost  their revenue. In DreamWorks's anual report 2013, there are some interesting points which I would want to discuss. For example, in April they closed every relation with China, which might have an impact of their distribution because Chine is the World's bigger producer of different products ( which can be DVDs and toys). DreamWorks have done it to improve their current market position. There are a huge number of different competitors which overtakes DreamWorks at the moment like Warner Bros. and Walt Disney.
